Shooto (also often seen as Amateur MMA) is a great way for students to test there skills in the cage, while not being involved in a full pro MMA fight.

Rules:

shooto mma gloves (mma sparring gloves) are worn

MMA shinguard (slip on’s) are worn

3 x 5 min rounds

No Elbows & No knees to the Head
These Shooto fights are split into 2 obvious sections -

The Standup fight (all striking with no elbows or knees to the head)

and the Ground game (striking only to the body – from the shoulders down, only grappling & submission)

While on the ground fighters will be given time to be active and if this

is not achieved they will be stood up.
